Scissors has been going since 1968 and is one of Macclesfield’s longest running male and female hairdressing salons. Paul and Diane are the senior stylists who provide professional cutting, colouring and styling. Sylvia helps out when needed and if you want a bit of luxurious pampering have a word with Jodie, the in-house holistic beauty therapist. They work together as a great team and take pride in their loyal and busy clientele.
Want to know what’s going on in Macclesfield? Paul’s just the person to talk to. We gather he’s a bit of a T-Rex fan as well. You’ll come out with a wonderful haircut and a lot wiser!

We just love this place. In her own words Kristen, the owner, describes Commander Crow as selling an arsenal of retro, kitsch and all-around geekery – do you get the gist? It’s packed full of fun and nostalgic treasures for everyone on your gift list – from gamer homeware to adult colouring books. Everything on the shelves will bring back memories and you won’t be able to leave without buying something.
The property itself is also a joy to behold. Exposed brick walls and an amazing iron staircase right in the middle of the floor are just 2 of the many features; this place is just bursting with character!

Phil Slack, and his sister Sue, have been running their stall in the Indoor Market for almost two years. Traditional products might be a good way of describing some of their best sellers such as Carbolic Soap, Bicarbonate of Soda, Borax, or Stardrops. If you youngsters don’t know what to do with any of these products maybe you should have a word with your Granny, because she’ll soon explain. The shelves are full of useful things you’re bound to need at least once in your life and though Phil says that he’ll try to get it, if he hasn’t already got it, he draws the line at kitchen sinks.
Oh, and in his other life Phil is a driving instructor- just thought you’d like to know!

We just love this shop and the name. It’s full of “udderly“ beautiful things! They specialise in design led handmade gifts and cards for all occasions – weddings, birthdays, anniversaries etc, so you can be sure of finding something ‘Mootiful’ here.

A Macclesfield institution, Spearings has been in business since 1945. A family affair run by Marshall and ably assisted by a great team, including his daughters Rachael and Sarah. They only sell high quality, locally sourced meat from their own farm and others in the local area. As Marshall himself says we need to support local farmers and he’s been trading with them for the last 65 years.
If you can’t see what you require just ask! When summer comes, and you fancy a sizzling barbecue, grab some of the wonderful kebabs that Gaynor conjures up. Delicious pies are a speciality and you might as well pick up some local eggs, bread and a few tasty extras at the same time.

Although a relative newcomer to our silk town, Margaret has quickly immersed herself in all things Macclesfield and is quite a character to say the least…..her food is as delicious as she is and everything is made using only the freshest ingredients. Want a touch more spice or a little less in our case, just ask. Margaret is very accommodating and always smiling! Can we recommend the salt and chilli squid, it’s simply divine.
Why not take a night off cooking and treat yourself to some traditional Chinese food with a tasty takeaway

Hadfields has been part of Macclesfield for ever, since 1755 to be precise, and that’s 12 generations of Hadfields! When you enter the shop you’re treated like an old friend by the lovely Dougie (he’s only been there 22 years, not quite so long!).
What an amazing, wide variety of items he stocks- from household and garden products to tobacco and home brew. If he hasn’t got what you need, just ask. He’s even been known to lend a pair of step ladders to a damsel in distress, you know! Have you noticed the stuffed crocodile hanging from the ceiling?
